The company grew quickly, after he began renting his first factory in 1869, Jones needed to expand to a place that could hold more workers. By 1875, he had completed construction for his own personalized factory, the Baumgarten, hiring 196 workers immediately to start in his factory for the expanding company. The motto & philosophy of the company was “Probus Scafusia,” meaning “good craftsmanship from Schaffhausen.” This motto is still marked onto IWC watches today, reminding the buyer that they are fulfilling a promise to them with their product. Jones was a man of his word, ensuring that the company put out only the very best quality product for its consumers. However, a nice of a watchmaker as he was, he was not a nice businessman, & was made to sell his company in order to make positive its survival.
IWC Watch Company, or the International Watch Company, was founded in 1868 by Florentine Jones, an American, with a dream to generate a watch that had the craftsmanship of the highly desired Swiss watches, but was manufactured by American expertise. However, after an uphill fight to break in to the industry, it was not until Jones met with a man named, Johann Heinrich Moser, the pioneer for white coal in Switzerland, that Jones could move forward together with his dream. Together, they began the first watch company in all of northeast Switzerland, generating their base in Schaffhausen, Switzerland.
In the work of the 1930′s, IWC Watch Company became the first company to manufacture watches specifically for aviators. These watches included an nonmagnetic part. The Mark 11, in 1948, was fully protected against all magnetic fields, & IWC has since made this an important attribute to all of their watches. This was a historical advancement in the watch industry that they could call their own.
Johannes Rauschenbach-Vogel bought IWC in 1880. Under his family’s generation reign over the company, some fabulous things were accomplished. For example, it was not until his family’s reign, specifically when after his 25 year elderly son, Johannes Rauschenbach-Schenk, created & began distributing a pocket watch with digital parts, in 1885. These watches are now thought about a rare collectors item & are very hard to find.
Quartz was not introduced in to their industry until IWC incorporated it in to their Di Vinci wristwatch in 1969. However, IWC decided that in order to stay profitable that they would stick to their core fundamentals & continue to ideal the mechanics of their watches than the general beauty. They desired to make positive that their consumer had a quality watch, not that was pleasing to the eye.
Adding to their list of accomplishments, IWC Watches introduced the world’s first titanium watch case & bracelet in 1978. Their watches, even today, have the most advanced process in finishing this process. There is a pin that is located in each link to hold the bracelet in its proper form & to keep away from any destroy that can be caused to the bracelet.
Today, the IWC Watch company is of the greatest in the watch industry, still holding its motto, “Probus Scafusia,” close at heart in the work of production. Their inspiration to hold true to the original make of their watches is a matchless & great quality that all collectors can appreciate.
